I never understood the peeve about this...he's 19 or 20 in the anime. It's only 5-6 years difference between them and 14 isn't necessarily a bad age to start falling in love.

I know that if I could've found someone older and so totally awesome as Mamoru at that age, I totally would've gone for it. 14 year old boys are just...Jesus Christ let me not even start. Even real 20 year olds have serious issues generally. *eyerolls*

it's creepy for an adult man to be dating a girl who's still in middle school. there's nothing wrong with a 14-year-old liking someone at that age, but an ADULT should know to hold off on it for a little bit. idk about you, but I wouldn't be comfortable with my little sister doing that. when she was 14 and dating an 18 year old I was not comfortable. because we can joke about how boys are dumb and less mature, but there's still generally a big difference between a 14 year old and 19/20 year old.

also Mamoru in the anime isn't really that awesome imo (at least to begin with). he picks on one young teenage girl constantly and kind of indifferently dates the other. no thanks. in the manga, yeah he's cool, but there's also less of an age difference there.
