The question being 'why do [I] think it's stupid'? I was pointing out that your reason for being annoyed at me, anon, was invalid because I'm not doing what you accused me of.

However, if I remember correctly, OP stated that they didn't see what was offensive about casting incorrect races into roles. I think it's stupid because the reason this is done is almost always to put white actors where there should be POCs, thus 'whitewashing' the show(/etc) and taking roles away from POCs. Perhaps it's less obvious if you haven't been involved in these conversations before.

casting incorrect races? they said 'changing', i thought they meant via makeup or w/e? which is apparently /more/ offensive even non-parody. which in turn leads to casting based on race rather than ability/fitting into the role.

wish op would pipe in, now i want to know if that's what they meant, but you're probably right anyway..

I highly doubt OP meant that. The phenomenon people find offensive is when Hollywood takes roles established for POCs (e.g. Jacob in Twilight) and either casts white people and ignores the racial aspect, or casts white people and 'darkens' them with makeup.
