I could never understand how people found anime characters attractive! They can look sort of eerily pretty or sometimes kind of adorably silly, but whenever I look at one seriously, all I can see is how this thing would look in real life, all bug-eyed and gangly and kind of creepy! Eyes the size of saucers, can you imagine!

I always imagine RL anime chars like this:

I kind of just mentally "translate" to what the character would look like as a normal, real human.

same here. anime features are just symbolic of actual traits. once you know the symbolism, it's not hard to "translate" back to what they're actually supposed to look like.

hair color makes it kind of weird, though. e.g., i know the author of higurashi has said everyone /actually/ has brown or black hair, but goddamn, i cannot imagine shmion without green hair.

I just do not get the over feminine men in anime/manga. What the hell is with that? I want men who look like MEN. Not hairy (cuz ew) but who have male features. With this crap they all look like women. What's the point?
