why is it that when a secret gets posted that's all "i'm ugly please give me attention now", fandom!secrets piles on the OH NO I'M SURE YOU'RE VERY PRETTY AND A LOVELY PERSON DON'T LET THE HATERS GET YOU DOWN even though they have no idea who the OP is........

........but when a secret is all "i'm pretty here's a secret about something related" everyone suddenly starts throwing piles of shit in their face like GOD GROW A FUCKING PERSONALITY I BET EVERYONE HATES YOU SECRETLY even though they have no idea who the OP is

Well, I think it might not always be jealousy, but rather people being more receptive to someone who needs encouragement than someone who doesn't.

In my view those two types of secret aren't really comparable on the same level tough. In most cases(not all) the "i'm ugly" are about OPs talking about something that makes them feel better about their looks, whereas the "i'm pretty" are OPs saying they're good looking but are apparently afraid of saying it IRL because people generally treat you better when you're humble. I can easily see how one can come off as inspiring or heartwarming and the other as conceited.

yeah but i get pissed off at the I'M UGLY COMPLIMENT ME NOW rather than the I'M PRETTY BUT because the former is just whiny attention-seeking bitching whereas the latter is dismissing their looks as unimportant

it might be just me, but the secrets that are "i'm pretty here's a secret" usually come off sounding arrogant and like they're better than everyone else. the "i'm ugly" secrets usually sound pitiful and get sympathy because of it. plus if they say they're suicide, i hope most people aren't jerks and respond accordingly. whether they're lying or not.

except most of the pretty secrets are the ones going "oh i'm used to relying on my looks but in fandom i can't do that so it's a big difference for me" and then everyone is like I BET YOU BURN KITTENS

but the ugly secrets are like "i'm fat and nobody likes me ): ): ): ):" which is 1) absolutely pathetic and 2) retarded bait for compliment fish
