I mean, if you're playing video games to ignore your long term goals to deal with depression, yeah, that's a problem, but therapists talk about "coping skills" for a reason. Sometimes something fun is just the pick-me-up somebody needs to make it through the day and do what they have to do, and to me that sounds helpful.
I mean, I had this volume of One Piece in high school that I took everywhere because I loved it to death. My psychologist noticed how much calmer it made me and actually started encouraging me to keep it with me. Between my crappy special education experience and pretty much my entire class hating me, if it hadn't been for some good stories for me to connect with along the way, I may have never graduated.
Just my thoughts. IDK.
