I would have been pretty mad if they painted Cave Johnson to look like a heartless jerk too.

Did we play the same game?

Aperture Basement was the worst, ngl. But Cave didn't make me feel any better about being there. I laughed at a few of his lines, but I laughed uneasily.

Well okay, to be fair he did some pretty irresponsible things and his eccentric love for science looks to be what ultimately led to Aperture's downfall, and partially to his own death. But I couldn't help but like part of his devotion to it at the same time. He doesn't come across to me as a "mad scientist" in the stereotypical sense; I don't think most of his experiments were done with any ill intentions. He's a likeable character, but just wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. He's so over the top too that it gave me the impression the player wasn't supposed to think too hard about what sort of craziness his test subjects went through.
