I basically agree with this. Although, I wasn't hugely bothered personally by how the movies portrayed them because I see the movies as being different from the books. But I still would have liked to have seen Lucius and Narcissa running wandless through the battle screaming for Draco because that image sums up the Malfoys perfectly for me.

I even had a vague image in my head of what that scene would look like. So needless to say, I was pissed when it didn't even appear in the movie :-(

I agree. I actually hated that scene a lot.

I thought the whole calling Malfoy over was a bit awkward. First, because it didn't seem as if they had actually had their heel-face turn. Second, because... Narcissa knew that Harry was alive. Why risking having Draco close by? It would have made sense if she could be sure that Harry was dead, and Voldemort would just kill everybody else, but that was not the case. She knew perfectly well that Harry was alive, she was probably smart enough to conclude that Voldemort could not win, and for all she knew, Voldemort would have turned around and killed her and her entire family immediately because she betrayed him. In that case, Draco would have been safer far away from her.

And then, they were all standing there and laughing with the rest of the DE's while Neville was talking. Wtf? Draco looked so miserable when he had to walk over to them, and then he's suddenly laughing too? And what was Narcissa laughing at? Again, her actions make no sense when you consider that she knew that it was only a matter of time until Voldemort would discover that Harry was alive.

And once Harry jumps out of Hagrid arms, the Malfoys just walk out of the movie. Seriously? I was hoping to see that scene of them huddling together in the Great Hall, not sure if they belong there, but at least they're together.

that entire laughing scene made no sense to me and seemed like nothing more than a cheap way to get the audience to chuckle. yeah, we get it. neville isn't what you'd expect from a hero. but that's hardly worth laughing at. even if you're a death eater. it just seemed so horribly immature. as though the death eaters were still stuck in a "schoolyard bully" phase.

and the great hall scene would have been amazing. and really would have drove home to the audience that the malfoys made a lot of mistakes, but they were no longer on voldemort's side.

I think there were too many such scenes. There's nothing wrong with genuinely funny stuff, but this movie was filled with awkward stuff at awkward places. I didn't notice such a thing in the last 3 movies. It was rather annoying.

Exactly! That way, it just felt like, "Oh, he doesn't win. Let's go, bye bye." It just ruined the Malfoy's conflict.

Wasn't there a scene in the movies where Narcissa and Lucius held hands that was supposed to be significant in showing that their marital bond remained strong under the terror of Voldemort?

No. There was a scene in the book when Lucius had to hand Voldemort his wand and only did so when Narcissa touched his hand. That wasn't shown in the movie at all.

It's the return of Luscious Malfoy, the bottle blonde!

I like the Malfoys, because they may be evil selfish prats, but they still all love each other. It's the three-way dedication to each other that makes me relate to them a little bit.

I didn't really get that impression from the movies. I always assumed they were in this thing together from the beginning. Lucius was just doing his job as a death eater and Narcissa was there supporting him and desperately looking out for Malfoy when she could afford to.

I more or less agree. They didn't have Narcissa as I had read her in the books. She seemed a bit blah. The impression I got was that Narcissa was a bitch but she cared a lot for Draco. He was her world. Whereas the films came off like she was just...blah.
