... I was thinking the same thing when I watched that scene. Like, how could Harry and Co. just stand there? I wanted them to bust through the window and DO SOMETHING dammit :|

(I know they hated Snape's guts at the time, but. Still.)

I don't know, I think it had more to do with them not knowing what was about to happen. IIRC the same was true of Harry in the book.

Why?

If you're talking about the trio, they knew him as the man who had killed Voldemort and been a downright dick to everybody the whole time they'd known him.

I would've had my pom poms out for Voldemort if I was them. I still would even knowing everything but that's another story.

I almost feel like it would have been weird if he hadn't been killed but at the same time it hurts my heart that so many people had to died in the last book. Snape would have defo been one of the ones I'd have saved.

I think the books handled it way better by making it a clusterfuck (Snape getting bitten once by the snake was a total surprise to Snape and the Trio, and then since none of them were registered Healers they couldn't fix the venom or stabilize Snape in any way) versus the movie where Harry "Expelliarmus" Practically-a-Paladin Potter just stands there while the snake takes 3-5 strikes to kill Snape.

Harry tried to save Malfoy. He should have tried to save Snape.

...but the movie guy was a little too busy with fight scenes to worry about alignment matching.
