DEAR GOD, WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO TL;DR?

See, everyone's decided that their stories are vitally important and if someone is too busy to read their story, he/she don't get to know what they're ranting about. If they summarize with a teal dear, then people will just read that and come to an immediate conclusion of whether or not their story is valid based on the concept rather than the shiny picture, heaven forbid. How ever can they trick people into reading their story if they reveal in a tl;dr that it's not worth reading?! And if this person refuses to read their story if they don't include a tl;dr, then, hey, who needs him/her, anyway?! He/she thinks he/she is SOOOO important that he/she is above their problems?! Who does he/she think he/she is, anyway?!

TL;DR: People got too cool for summaries.

This post includes none of my own personal opinions, but the long-winded speech was needed for the joke. In all seriousness, though, tl;dr was one of the greatest things this community has done, and I miss them.

ironically, now i want macros

i get what you're saying, but

A SECRET IS NOT A MACRO

I do think, however, that if I see a WALL OF TEXT, I usually don't feel like taking the time to read it. If I see a TL:DR, though, I tend to read that bit. Then if it sounds VAGUELY amusing or interesting or in need of further explanation, though, I go back and read the wall above it. Like if someone just adds to the end, "TL:DR; I made an ass of myself thinking X and Y were the same person" or something, then I want to know HOW. If they add "TL:DR; I have such a huge girlboner for person X, even though he's just like person Y from real life" then I really don't care, but someone else might.

I mean, yeah, there's a whole story behind a lot of secrets. And a lot of the time the stories are important to understanding the secret. But some kind of flavor text is good.
