(Thanks! I do adore her, and that episode was especially a cool one for her. :D)

At the Otakon panel, Ozaki apparently said something about how they gave Kotetsu a beard because facial hair is "the kiss of death" when it comes to Japanese women finding guys attractive. XD

From what I've seen on Twitter (and Pixiv and so on), it would seem there are MANY. Unless there are lots of Japanese dudes into yaoi fan art. ;)

(Though in retrospect, I think the guys would enjoy the BFF Kotetsu/Antonio dynamic as bara-bait more than the super-cute Kotetsu/Barnaby stuff I mostly see. ...Mmm. Bara-bait.)

To be fair he is kinda correct on a large scale, that younger-looking guys with smooth faces are frequently most popular, and that they become popular more easily and consistently. But "kiss of death" is really too far. Especially if it's just a little chin hair and not, like, a full beard.

Hey, I'm not the one who said it. ;)

I've noted for a long time in fandom, though, that I always wind up liking characters no one else seems to like... and one thing they frequently have in common is facial hair. So he's not too far off about American fans of anime/manga/videogames either, seems like.
