Yeah, that is logical, but, man... 7 kids...that's too much for suck a poor family...I mean, Brangelina can afford that, but not the Weasleys, obviously...

No lie, the Weasley's poverty always confused the shit out of me.

The cost of sending a kid to Hogwarts is fairly unclear--there's the costs of supplies, obvs, but is there tuition? Would the wizarding world risk a bunch of untrained wizards running around just because they were restricted financially?

If there's no tuition, then there's no cost of education/career training restricting a poor family's children from being upwardly mobile, and that looks like it's what happened with the Weasley kids--Bill and Charlie seem to have good jobs. But Bill and Charlie seem so distant from the rest of the family in the books; I always wondered why they apparently couldn't kick back anything in way of support.

This is all beyond the fact that I'm not sure what poverty effectively means when you've got magic to support most of your basic essentials and you live in a world largely devoid of technology.

This is a good point, and I'm surprised that I never thought of this before. Although, to be honest, I never thought the Weasleys were impoverished. They just had a tight budget.
