OP is so obsessed with her own issues that she can't accept that someone who had something she didn't could also be unlucky in having a early onset mental illness. That's self-centered bullshit.

Really?

It does seem like they are a little envious, but more than that I feel like the OP is mostly questioning the way people think about him and treat him because he was fortuitous with the treatment of his mental illness, and grew up in a supportive and understanding environment.

Sure, they may seem a tad envious, but I think the OP is saying "He's not poor; he's lucky. Why do people make such a huge fuss about his mental illness?" instead of "My life was shitty. He was so lucky. This sucks. Why do people like him?!"

He's not poor; he's lucky

Exactly. Which is what I disagree with it. It's completely subjective. What she's saying is "He's lucky, while me on the other hand am not". But that makes no sense because just in having two non-abusive parents alive shes so freaking lucky in comparison to a lot of other people. It's hypocritical and self-centered. Especially since we know nothing about why his parents accepted it. Like I said, he might have been so ill that ignoring it is impossible, in which case I'd argue that he wasn't luckier than her at all.
