Fandom friends can be *just* as important as "real life" friends, OP. Sometimes, more so. Just because you haven't met someone face-to-face doesn't diminish the connection. Unfortunately, just like in-person friendships, fandom friendships can slowly fade, and because there is that lack of personal contact, it's harder to keep it going.

I havent read the books yet but I don't think anything could make me like him after he shoved a kid out a window.
I WOULD be sympathetic to him though if he was just a good person who was in love with his sister. That seems like a hard place to be in.
