But DW is a fun and awesome series! I know a lot of gaming fans look down at hack and slash, but whatevs. It's a game. You should be allowed to just have fun and play.

I love Dynasty Warriors and I am not at all ashamed of it. It's mindless hack and slash fun. I can turn off my brain and play without having to pay attention to deep and convoluted character backstories or listen closely to every single word spoken unless I miss out on something. Plus, it's an easy pick-up-and-play game with the option of co-op play, and co-op is a big deal for us.

It's probably not my favorite series, but it's up there.

But how do you react to the gamers who think you're a casual for liking Zelda so much? ;p

I love this series. So. Much.

I love Dynasty Warriors. Hell, I'll proudly proclaim that 3 is my favorite, bad voice acting and all. It was my first, and personally I find it pretty quotable (THIS VICTORY. SHALL BELONG TO WUUUUUUU)

As the mod of

dynastywarriors, nothing is bad about liking this series (or samurai warriors and orochi.......tho if you like Bladestorm....I judge you. j/k). Many of my friends say it's redundant but that's why I like it. The same applies to all the 90s boy bands. It just meant more for me. I try to get as many people to like this game (vs sengoku basara cause I'm bitter that capcom has an anime. The Koei boys are more pretty) so I lend them out all the time. The series is a great couples game too. You're playing co-op vs being in competition. Some guys get hard core and start cussing out the gfs and what not with fighters. Not with this one.

I don't get it, lots of people like that series. It's not the most well known franchise ever, but it's certainly not terrible. I prefer Samurai Warriors myself, though.

From a fellow fan to another, there's nothing wrong with being honest about your preferences. DW5 remains one of my most favorite games ever, even after 6 years and various current-gen addictions.

No need for shame. This is a awesome series, which you wouldn't think with all the hoards of killing. Now i have to play this and samurai warriors again.

Dynasty Warriors is awesome. It is known.

Nothing to be ashamed about. Every person I've ever gotten to play Dynasty Warriors has enjoyed it, even if they're not a fan of the genre. It's accessible, mindless fun. There's a big, overarching story there if you want it, but if you just want to relieve some stress for half an hour after life gives you a shellacking, you can do that, too. Not many games offer that.

I haven't played it myself because I'm not that interested in the genre or story. I don't have any problems with people who like it though. You should just tell people it's your favorite game and who cares what their thoughts are.

Naming your favorite game is like saying what your favorite movie or band is. People will say they like the artsy acclaimed ones to impress people, but it just makes them look like a pretentious hipster.

What's wrong with Dynasty Warriors? This game needs more love, IMO.

PFFFFT, if someone hates on it near me, I ask them if they've played it since DW3? They usually say no, to which I ask them if they judge everything else by a game that came out in 2001 or so? I also point out how it's based on historical facts and historical badasses. That you can't always bumble your way through the game, and it involves tactics to win. It's not like you can just take on Lu Bu until you're super high in the game.

Haters usually haven't even played and call it hack and slash, but then praise games that have a similar battle system.

Don't be ashamed! It's a mindless, shiny, fun game.

At the end of the day, fun is fun, and if anybody judges you for liking to have fun then they're an asshole. Rock on, OP. Haters gonna hate, but who cares what they think anyway?

Nothing wrong with loving DW. You like what you like and anybody who thinks badly of you for it is an idiot, plain and simple. :)
Pretty much all of my friends know how much I love DW, even if they themselves refuse to play it because they think it looks terrible. But it doesn't stop me from proclaiming my love for it on a daily basis around them.

Dynasty Warriors is fucking awesome. Yeah, the likes of IGN blast it but it's such fun, whether you're in it just to destroy armies of peons or whether you're in it for the epic storylines and the amazing cast of badasses. Fuck the haters.
