(Anonymous) 2011-08-31 04:55 am (UTC)(link)When I was in college, I had a part time job and taking 3-hour art classes.
... maybe because I had a couple of hour breaks before my art classes and my part-time job and it was all on campus. I was really lucky for that. Sure I was out most of the day (8AM-8PM usually because lol night classes that aren't art classes was just a no-go) But I had usually a couple of hours of breathing space and I enjoyed the part time job a lot.
With a job, you're lucky if you get an hour break and you fucking hated your job makes it that much worse. I mean, sure the lack of homework was nice (although the load in college wasn't that bad, especially to my experiences in high school being loaded with homework every night from seven class compared to readings and occasional writing homework for certain classes) but I didn't feel like I wasted a day and you could skip classes (well, some) if it was a really nice day outside and fool around a bit. Plus there are less days off. My last job I probably took 3 personal days off and had no vacay on top of 5 days off due to holiday because the pay was so low and I was living paycheck to paycheck and I really needed the money because it wasn't enough to cover me for the week. The job before that? It wasn't really encouraged for me to take a vacay because I was a long time temp then I had to because my doctor ordered me because I got really painful stress headaches and my body was starting to give out on me.
And yeah, I did have time to marathon with anime with friends, especially when I had that Friday to sleep in (I wasn't one of the lucky ones who had a Friday off because of my Philosophy or Japanese classes).
