1!! I'm going to agree!!

And all these people IN HERE WITH COMPUTERS, WITH INTERNET AND ACCESS TO LJ, POSTING TO A COMM CALLED FANDOMSECRETS, AND CALLING YOU A HORRIBLE PERSON,

Sorry guys but it's FUNNY.

[identity profile] grayout.livejournal.com 2007-06-22 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
I GOT TO IT BEFORE YOU DID!

[identity profile] grayout.livejournal.com 2007-06-22 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
I WIN, DUH

[identity profile] icemilk.livejournal.com 2007-06-22 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
I don't have any criteria to judge her at all, I don't, and I don't intend to. :(

But I still can't lol.

[identity profile] grayout.livejournal.com 2007-06-22 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not lol'ing at HER.

I'm loling at the people calling her a horrible person for spending money on fandom when... guess what, they do it too, and that's HOW THEY'RE TALKING TO HER IN THE FIRST PLACE. *dies*

[identity profile] staymyadamant.livejournal.com 2007-06-22 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
I found it ironic as well. They need the 80 cents to pay for the electricity and the internets after all.

[identity profile] icemilk.livejournal.com 2007-06-22 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that is a little bit lulzworthy. Most of us make her decision everyday.

But I didn't mean to imply that you're laughing at her, it's just a sad secret I guess because it's true. :( It made me feel guilty, haha.

[identity profile] grayout.livejournal.com 2007-06-22 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I kinda feel guilty too. :/

No yeah, and I'm totally in support of that, but ... if you're not giving away everything you don't NEED, I really don't think they have the right to call anybody horrible for not wanting to do it either? What you don't give away, you'd rather spend on yourself, right?

I just thought it was pretty funny how everyone's hating and pretending they're not like that aghkaeghaket I gotta admit like hey, sometimes I feel that way too.

[identity profile] staymyadamant.livejournal.com 2007-06-22 12:23 am (UTC)(link)
True. When I saw the interpreted the secret, what crossed my mind is, "Wow, she's going to buy tons of overpriced doujinshis, figurines, and random things for fandom".

[identity profile] grayout.livejournal.com 2007-06-22 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
Lots of people do that anyway, though. Needy children thought of or not. ):

*dies* Way to read into my comment, never said anything about anyone not being involved with anything. Point I'm making is, you don't NEED a computer. You don't NEED the internet. But you have 'em anyway, right? So do I! We're all like the OP to some degree, so I'm going "lol" at everyone being like oh my god that's such a terrible thing to say!

[identity profile] grayout.livejournal.com 2007-06-22 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
No.

But unless you do that, you've done it/are doing it, too, to some extent. I'm laughing at the people who act like they don't.

you're supposed to feel BAD, not congratulate yourself on screwing over some poor needy schmuck.

Agreed. Reading that secret made me feel guilty and want to go do something to help people and stuff too. But I got the feeling that the wording on the secret was harsh because... the secret was harsh. I'd help people because, you know, helping people is good, but would I rather spend that money on fandom? Sometimes!

What's kind of funny too is that if that secret had said "I spend money I could be spending on charity on fandom," I bet people would have supported it and been all aww, don't feel bad, I do it too! *dies*

[identity profile] grayout.livejournal.com 2007-06-22 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, let me add:

oh my god that's such a terrible thing to say! <-- as if they're not guilty of it at all themselves.

I think it's more the fact that the secret maker is acting like she's PROUD of not giving a damn about starving orphans, like being selfish and callous is nothing to be ashamed of. Sure, you accuse the rest of us of not donating as much as we should, but I'd like to think we'd all feel a tad guilty after looking at a picture of some adorable little girl from an impoverished country.

Also, it's not exactly fair to assume anyone who can afford a computer isn't involved with any charities.

Word.
