Narcissa's too awesome to die.

I could have stood to have Lucius decapitated and having to hang around as a Hogwarts ghost (haunting Gryffindor tower naturally) for all eternity though. That would have been kind of funny-tragic.

Damn, I want a fic of that now. I don't suppose anyone has fic'ed Lucius getting killed and having to haunt Hogwarts?

Lucius is too awesome to die. Neither Draco nor Narcissa would allow that to happen.

Whoa. I never considered that possibility, but I really like it. I'd definitely read a fic where Lucius and Draco cope with her death.

Agree with this 100%; I honestly think Narcissa is a much more interesting character than Lucius, at least, and maybe even Draco. I don't want her dying just so there can be a lot of angsty alcoholic Lucius crying fanfic.

would have been too obvious. the malfoy's survival is part of their punishment - existence outside of the wizarding community, guilt and regret, loss of status etc etc - all the things they fear most.

narcissa's death would be without any drama, as the drama caused by her survival is far more complex.

I never thought about it, but then again I never really put much thought into Narcissa. That would have been amazing to see what her death would mean to Draco, who clearly loved his mother a lot, and what it would have done to Lucious.

Same here. I never gave her much thought but I could see her death completely destroying whatever is keeping Lucius going.

Which now makes me think of Draco having to actually mature in a whole new fashion so he could take care of his father and basically have to deal with his emotions of his mother's passing in his own time privately so not to break down when helping Lucius in his depression.

Ugh, no. Even if I didn't like the Malfoys, I wouldn't wish death upon anyone just so their family could be taught a lesson or make them more ~human~ and shit. They can do that when they were alive as well. Chances are, coming out of that war in one piece gave them a little bit of humility already.

Narcissa is my favorite, too, and I as well consider the possibility that is her death at the end of the series. However, it would just break my heart if she did - I think that if anyone, the Malfoys (and Narcissa in particular) deserve a happy ending where they can just live quietly together, without Voldemort or the Death Eaters anything like that.

Anyone else picturing the unholy terror that would be unleashed upon Hogwarts if Narcissa became Slytherin's new house ghost? I mean, seriously.

I can't decide what would be more hysterical- that, or Bellatrix as the new house ghost.

Although can you imagine how it would be for Neville (being the professor of herbology at Hogwarts in the future) having to see his parent's torturer trolling around the school on a daily basis? ~awkward~

Hmm, can ghosts go out to the greenhouses? I mean, that wouldn't exactly stop Bellatrix from floating around behind Neville at the Great Hall all "LONGBOTTOOOMMMMMM" but I like to think he'd get used to that after a while and just be like "You can't even do magic anymore, haha".

Too bad it's unlikely Snape became a ghost, because they would harass each other until the end of time.

Peeves/Bellatrix would probably mean waterballons followed by Mrs Black-esque ravings about blood purity. Oh, the embarrassment of the Slytherin students of the future.

I mean, during CoS there was that headless ghost party, right? Were all the ghosts in attendance actually haunting hogwarts at the time? Or did some of them actually travel over long distances (or just poof over or whatever) to hogwarts for it?

The poor Slytherin first-years would end up opting to sleep in the dining hall rather than face going to the dungeons.

Hell, there would probably be seventh-years who would rather sleep in the dining hall than the dungeons with Bella down there. I know I would. God knows I'd never get any sleep with her shrieking laugh echoing everywhere.

I was one of the people who initially thought "ugh, no refrigerators!" but actually the House Ghost idea is kind of amazing and I would totally read that fic.
