Yeah. But you can own a community and still be part of others of which the mods might also want to rant... I think there'd have to be a serious check of who owns which comm and is part of which other for this to work and that's a bit... complicated and creepy. lol

I guess one thing one could have is a comm with posts. So you could rant anonymously in the comments. Then when one post hits the comment limit, the next one goes up. Membership might still have to be upon approval, though. :/

like a kink meme in itself..........well anon comment meme

Yeah, like that. Which, in the light of the secret that spawned this is ironic, I guess. But since lj only has anon posting on comments and not on actual posts...

I mean, the main issue is to have a place where mods can say what's on their mind without being afraid of causing a mutiny in their own comm. Which sometimes is just absolutely necessary.

I kinda have a f-list filter I tentatively used once for ranting about a comm I mod, but even that I wasn't sure about using.

I'm thinking of something like fanficrants where some posters go Dear Harry Potter fandom, Dear specific HP fandom writer.........

I'm thinking of making something along the lines of community rants. That way everyone can get in on it and not reveal if they are a mod. I can be like Dear Blah Blah Kink meme users.........

I've made something with this idea in mind since fanfic rants only apply to fanfic. It's called Dear Fandom. http://dear-x-fandom.livejournal.com/profile

I just never pimped it or anything

Yeah, I guess that would work. Though I'm not sure when it comes to rants about specific mod-issues.

For instance, let's say user X is a mod of a comm whose members completely disrespect them and they want to rant about it. It could very well be known that they are the mod of that specific comm. That's why I said it would have to have a degree of anonymity.

I actually think the comment meme type thing would actually work. It's a bit like text secrets. XD

Though the Dear Fandom idea is cool too, just maybe for a different pupose. there are a lot of things fanficrants, for instance, doesn't cover.

The idea I had for Dear Fandom is because sometimes certain things about fandom as a whole, it's elitist shippers, etc make me mad. I follow ffrants and haven't seen anything about other stuff so I made a comm, just haven't pimped it.

I just enabled anon commenting, no screening and no ip logging. I call it a Fandom Rant Meme. It's a post in the comm but anyone can comment on it. We can see how that works. http://dear-x-fandom.livejournal.com/607.html?mode=reply#add_comment

DA

Wouldn't it be kind of obvious when it's a mod though? I'm sure the things a mod would rant about are different than what regular community members would find upsetting. They would most likely have opposing views on the subject.

For example the users on a kink meme may find there are too many rules or the rules are too harshly enforced, but the mod may think the rules are simple and basic and it isn't really that difficult to follow them.

My guess is they would have to word it so that one cannot tell they are a mod. For example, I'm not a mod but I hate +1 comments on kink memes because I get excited thinking they are fills. There are memes where you aren't allowed to second prompts but they do it anyway. I also hate when the pairings aren't in the subject line or the word fill. It's easier if all that stuff was included so I can comb through stuff. Users might have modish issues.
