From what I've seen, people disregard -- and outright badmouth -- her because she became a stay-at-home mom or something in the sequel (never played it myself though, so I can't say whether that's actually true or not).

Meh, in as much as Wakka was a stay at home dad I think. They never really went into the details but basically Lulu and Wakka went back to...whatever Yuna's home island is [I can never remember the name] and build their lives there. Beyond Lulu being preggers they don't really go into much detail about *what* their jobs there were...and considering they were both guardians and Lulu is a mage, I'd suspect she does more than tend house.

But that's just me.

Despite them not giving her a different character model, she's supposed to be in the final stages of her pregnancy for pretty much the entirety of the game. I think she has a pretty good physiological excuse to sit that plot out.

I just wish Lulu got more character development. It's jarring when she suddenly gets all emotional and acts her age around Yunalesca. (Also, re: her being a powerful mage -- I've realized it's more efficient to have Yuna go down her sphere grid path; that way, Yuna can act as a white and black mage)

HOWEVER. I do like Lulu, and she is a good character, and I can see how she's overlooked (and got shafted in X-2, pregnant my ass)

I~ adore Lulu so much, anon. I wish there was more fic or art or anything about her, because I find her story (what we get of it) very touching and even inspiring, a bit. And I was crazy bitter she wasn't in FFX-2 as a playable, it's one of the main reasons I never played that thing.

I like Lulu, but she didn't get enough development. Her personality was also very flat. Me, I don't care that she became a mother. But the idea that she'd hook up with Wakka of all people later is insane and contradicts her own dialogue from the first game.
