PEOPLE DRAW HEY ARNOLD FANART?!

This was my reaction, before I remembered that there is fic for damn near everything, so that likely extends to art as well.

I don't really mind it in the second one; she's obviously gotten dressed up there and I could buy her plucking as part of her primping. I usually couldn't care less that I have a bit of a monobrow, but for a fancy enough occasion when I care about looking nice I'll clear out the middle.

Well, if they're drawing Helga the same age (or younger) that she is in the series, I totally agree, anon. However, older I think is a bit more fair game.

What you're comfortable with when you're younger doesn't always coincide with how you feel a few years down the line, especially as a teenager. I have very thick eyebrows (not quite a unibrow, though). While I didn't mind them looking like caterpillars on my face when I was a kid, once I turned about fifteen, tweezers became my best friend.

ita. those awkward preteen years were made a little more awkward by the fact that nobody kept the tweezers away from me so i experimented on my own face :(

I agree. I like my thick eyebrown, but I at least make sure they don't meet in the middle. Also, upt to about 14 I was fine with my rather hairy legs, but then it started bothering me (and started clashing with my dress choice).

This is me. Except I get mine waxed every three or four weeks and tweeze in the interim. I didn't care when I was younger but as soon as I hit 17 or so I was all 'MUST TAME THE EYEBROWS.'

If she's depicted older, that might be more possible, but unconventional features are the fun part of drawing certain characters!
It's sadly not just Helga, seen this pattern with a few other monobrowed characters. They turn one brow into two to make them "prettier" and miss out that they're not supposed to be conventionally pretty.

As someone who's art is used as an example and who does sometimes draw Helga without the unibrow, I don't mind? Idk. Like, I prefer seeing her with the unibrow - particularly when she's obviously drawn as a kid, but I think different styles lend themselves to different takes on it.

Also! Personally, I generally make a point to keep her unibrow on art until she's at least 15 (canon Pataki's age and it's been officially stated by Craig Bartlett that she'd have kept it for that series), but after that I think it's possibly she might wax/pluck.

AAAAAND, her dream in Married depicts her with two eyebrows which sort of leads me to believe that she's not emotionally attached to the unibrow or anything. And that she actually might feel more comfortable without it? But, I still prefer her having thick eyebrows.

So... uhhhhh. At least for me, there is some thought process involved with removing the unibrow.

She tweezes her eyebrows in the Slumber Party episode, so in canon she does care a bit. I like her better with the monobrow, though.

thats what I was gonna say, she plucks them for the sleepover so by the time she hits middle school she'll likely make a habit of it. I don't mind either way as long as shes still a badass.

doesn't she have two separate eyebrows in the episode where she fantasizes about being the president? I think she does care OP and as she gets older she will do the very common thing and start tweezing/waxing/whatever.

Since when is it called a "monobrow?" Not that that doesn't make sense. I've just only ever heard "unibrow" used.

I think while she's still a kid it wouldn't make sense to pluck it. The whole point is Helga doesn't care about that kind of shit. But she might change her mind when she's an adult because she wouldn't want to deal with the stares.

In Australia here we call it a "monobrow" more than a "unibrow". Both mean the same thing, though (mono/uni = single) so it's a matter of preference, I guess!

when she was nine. i didn't care about having a monobrow either, when I was nine.

fifteen years later and have, in fact, come to value not having a monobrow and keep the fucker well plucked; the idea that helga might also come to perform femininity in that particular aspect of her face (IIRC she would be in her mid-20s now, y?) isn't as far-fetched as you apparently think it is.

ehhhhhhhh the problem with that is, in the show, she's a kid. As a teenager, she may start waxin' cause that's when most girls who do it start. I've never had a unibrow but naturally they look like two thick black stripes and when I was a kid, I gave no fucks, but as a teenager I started to. (I mean, they're still on the thick side, but I shape em now.) Most of that fanart has her with boobs so she's presumably hit that age where you most likely start caring about those things

All of these comments, seriously. She's 9 years old in the show, of course she doesn't care. She may or may not care as she gets older.

How can you even call a unibrow a defining trait?

Wow that one of her in the black dress makes me question my sexuality. O.o Yummy.

I'm just here to say I like the second picture of her wearing the black dress. It's rather good. It's actually.... quite good!

I don't think it's a big deal--after all, when regarding how she views herself in the future in 'Married', she sees herself with two distinctive eyebrows eventually. So she's probably intending to shape her eyebrows when she decides there's a good reason for it.

But right now, as a student that everyone already fears/respects? Nah.
