I intensely dislike when actors/singers/etc get book deals simply because they're famous, so I'm not expecting it to be brilliant.

Except that isn't what happened. He's sold projects to three different companies now, and tbf I don't think he's famous ENOUGH that he'd generate that much interest/future investment (one of the companies is buying like three books from him I think) just on his name alone.

That's probably fair. I'm still not enthusiastic about his books, and I'll probably never read them. Then again, I don't even really like him as an actor.

There's a movie and a television pilot too. I mean I don't think they're GUARANTEED quality or anything; I'm just guessing they're probably better than Keanu Reeves's book of poetry.

Anything would be better than Keanu Reeves attempting poetry. Except, maybe, Keanu Reeves attempting Shakespeare. Have you ever seen him attempting Shakespeare? It's ghastly.

He still got his foot in the door based on his name though. The three-book deal is for his YA series, IIRC. And you don't really have to be a great writer to get a YA book series deal. (Look at Hilary Duff.) Chris' name might not have been enough to make it in, say, the general literature & fiction section, but I think he has enough buzz in the YA set.
