Or just use these! "&-spades;", "&-hearts;", "&-diams;", "&-clubs;" but remove the -'s from each of those.

Now you can just use the characters like say, you ship Karkat ♠ John!

Also, <-font color=red> desired character <-/font> (again without dashes) lets you change to red color, so your and can be perfect.
