I like the tune, but the subject matter creeped me out. It just seemed so... hopeless and empty and materialistic and everyone was trying to dupe everyone. And then everyone packs up and leaves and it's just so desolate...

Also strange multicultural dance out of nowhere.

I think that might have been the point of the song though...he's singing and saying that Portobello Road is this magical place when it's actually...kind of a dump :/

I'm just not sure why this is someone's deep dark secret. I love Bedknobs and Broomsticks!

Yeah, I did get that that was the point, but I was (and still am) really kind of creeped by it. Also, UXB's in Prof Brown's (stolen) house. Brr.

Well, it's not as well put together as Mary Poppins, and some parts are downright silly, so I can see why someone might be embarrassed to admit that this is their favorite Disney movie over, say, Beauty and the Beast, or The Little Mermaid, or Bambi. But don't get me wrong, I liked this movie too. I remember trying to turn things into rabbits when I was little because I was believing so hard OMG.

Yeah I guess now I think about it the whole sequence from Portobello Road to the abandoned house had an air of the post-apocalyptic about it, which is super creepy. but also strangely fascinating...

To this day whenever I hear the word apple I think of appogee from her spell for turning people into white rabbits, and then I smile inside
