I think his acting is actually pretty good. He's my favourite background-moments-character and I enjoy his body language a lot. But well, you know...in my opinion and all that.
Apart from being invested in his writing because I want to maintain the illusion of him being just all around awesome, I hope he can keep writing parts for himself. Because yeah, he'll definitely get typecast.

Gotta say that, even though I largely agree with the posters rolling their eyes at Chris' various projects (although I'm morbidly curious to see what his YA book will be like...can't be any worse than James Franco's overly indulgent tripe), I do admire him for seizing the opportunities coming his way. More actors should do the same. I wonder if he's savvy enough to realize what people are saying about his being typecast in the future, so he's going to open as many doors for himself as possible in the meantime instead of just resting on his laurels.

Personally, OP, I think they focus on him too much as far as background moments. I mean, in the damn prom episode, a good chunk of the song where Artie was asking Britney to the Prom was focused on *him* and the expressions he was making with out spending much, if any time, on Mercedes or Tina who where also there in the background.

Hell, to be perfectly honest, it halfway felt like that scene was Artie singing to them both because of that. [To me]
