Words, especially in songs, can be interpreted differently by different people. I don't see how the movie could ruin a song for you. Pretty sure the words to the song, how you interpret them, can still be about Thane. But, uh, sorry?

I've had this song on my FST for Desmond from Assassin's Creed for awhile. There's nothing wrong with knowing the source or the original intent and preferring it as a character song. ^^
