I was like this but with the blue ranger. I had a crush on him and everytime there was a Billy-centric episode I couldn't even look at the TV straight because I was too embarassed, it was like we were having a ~~date. I asked my mom to buy me the blue ranger action figure, but she got me the pink ranger and the yellow ranger instead. sigh.

Junior high school. Played Power Rangers with my brother and sister and the elementary school kids in the neighborhood. Requirement was, everybody makes your own Rangers, nobody gets to be anyone from the show. So I made up my own purple ranger with a broto/apatosaurus Zord. I liked it so much I wore purple to school every day to improve my confidence.

I was fat. They called me Grimace.

I clammed up and went fandom underground until college. =/

MMPR came out when I was 9, but I was a loyal follower until my junior year in high school, and I come back to it once in a while (like I was following Time Force when I was in college and I was disappoint that the Red Ranger Special was too short). Kimberly was my fave girl and I had pink everywhere because of her.

Then I denounced pink once she left the show and Kat replaced her. Still don't like Kat to this day and was legit disappoint when I found out Tommy ends up with her instead of Kimberly. But from then on, I took up the yellow mantle and it is still my fave color like what? 11-12 years later. LOL.

Although I did love Trini and Aisha (they were my third and second fave characters respectively). I was so upset when I found out that Trini's actress died shortly before 9/11. It felt like a part of my childhood died that day.

I spent my childhood from five to eight wanting to be Kimberly. :) I dressed up as her for Halloween and tried to do split kicks while my parents took pictures.

I had a huge crush on Kim as a kid, and Billy/Kim was one of my first fandom OTPs back in the day. (Because I was a Billy-type and so not Tommy, and Billy/Kim had way better chemistry, IMO, ha.) SO YAY KIM. Even rewatching the series recently pleased me. Sure it's cheesy in places, but Kim is still really awesome, and they have a lot of awesome messages to give kids.

Anyway. THIS IS AWESOME IT DOES NOT NEED TO BE A SECRET YAY KIM. COME JOIN PR FANDOM WE WOULD LOVE MORE.

Hearing everyone's childhood stories make me wish I had one of my own. I have vague memories of the Green with Evil saga...but sadly my parents took the tv away and kicked my brother and me outside. We had Batman, Star Trek and Reading Rainbow instead.

I was in 8th grade when PR started and in high school from season 2 through to mid-Space, so you're definitely not alone in that respect. There are a whole lot of people out there who were already outside the target age group when it was first on.

Though I...really was never into Kim very much and never really understood the appeal. I preferred Trini myself of the original girls, and then really liked Kat when she came on board. But I never wore yellow or pink, mostly because I hate how they look on me. Most of my wardrobe at the time (and still does to some extent) featured a lot of green (because of Adam during Zeo and early Turbo, since he has long been my favorite) or purple (because I would always create all sorts of different Purple Rangers). Nobody ever caught on to my tendency to wear the same colors all the time back then.

Me and my cousin argued over who got to be Kimberly when... whenever actually. We didn't even have to be playing to be power rangers, we just wanted to be the pink ranger XD

I identified with the Yellow Ranger as a really little kid, and pretended to be her when I watched the show. I remember feeling really frustrated that I had only one character to choose from, since I didn't want to pretend to be a boy and I hated the color pink! (I believe I was too young to understand the plot back when I watched this show. I probably only cared about the action; I have no recollection whatsoever on the characters personalities.)
