How dare black people ship white people! Everyone stick to your own race! I mean, how could someone black find something interesting in a white person unless they want to be white? It's not like we're all just people. Crazy talk.

EXACTLY. God, it irks me to no end when someone tells me I can't possibly like a story or identify with a character that isn't of my same gender or race. Fuck that.

Never mind characters- how would the human race be able to function at all if we couldn't find some means to relate to each other or examine other perspectives? Yes, we're still working on that- but if we couldn't, we'd never have made it out of the caves and done anything with those nifty wheels.

Yeah, that's not true at all. I mean, I guess it depends on your definition of "a lot", but that's still less than 10% of characters in Western media, so...

Yes, there are a variety of races in television/shipping. However, most people don't go 'this person is a shitty character, I don't like them, but they are black and I am black BLACK POWAH.' I mean...maybe not...maybe?

98% of the ships in canon are heterosexual (regardless of race) so excuse me for wanting to branch out a bit and explore different options in my shipping. I write because two characters have chemistry, not because I have a vagina and therefore must stick to my vaginaed...brethren...what is the female version of that? Is there one? idk.

I think I've come across "sistren" but I hate it because it sounds like "cistern". XD

--You know, in that last US election for a moment I was really confused when I saw black people speaking out against Obama. Like, wasn't he black too? I mean, my gods, he could have potentially been (and was/is, as it ended up) the first black president of the US!! What black person wouldn't want that? Why would a black person not vote for Obama?!

And then I remembered Sarah Palin and how retarded I think she is, and realized that I don't give a flying fuck if we both have vaginas, even if I was an American, nothing could possibly induce me to vote for that... extremely silly person. And then I clued in.

OP, not everything is about race. Or gender. Or... hair colour or whatever. Honestly, in a world with gender reassignment surgery and Michael Jackson, you may as well say "If you're brunette but about 90% of your ships are blonde/blonde..." It's just as (ir)relevant.

Ships are about characters. Honestly, why don't you just write a secret that says "Stick with your own kind!"? Because, really, that's what you're saying.
