Well, I have met some cool Polish people and people with Polish roots who were just as cool, so don't worry ;)

Polish isn't that difficult. It always varies, but Polish is actually a "medium" difficult language, and several languages are more difficult than Polish. Provided your native language is a Germanic language.

Practically every country is full of douchebags, Poland is no exception.

There's a bunch of articles saying how Polish is absolutely the hardest (those are mysteriously mostly written in Polish, though, so I'm not surprised that anon said that if they're Polish ;)), but there are also some in English that say it's in the first ten of the most difficult languages to learn.

Personally I think Czech is more difficult, for example '3' My friend was learning Hungarian and she said it seemed more complex to her too. Then there are languages I have no idea of that probably also are harder, but idk if Polish would actually place as a medium-hard.

Researchers that had to compare several languages have placed it as medium difficult and looked at how much hours it in general took to learn. Considering how, relatively speaking, fast one of my old friends picked it up I was really surprised since everybody seems so eager to make it sound like the most impossible language in the world.

Honestly? I wouldn't be surprised if every language on earth had articles like that, I've already come across several. Strangely, the only people I've met that said their language is easy are Turkish people, other nationalities I've met that could converse in English all said their language is (one of) the hardest in the world.

Do you know if those research were for people speaking originally in Germanic language?

And yeah, I imagine, that's why I noted that the articles stating that Polish is the hardest are written by Poles themselves :D But it's interesting with Turkey, I didn't know that! I also think that people generally take Polish for such a difficult language because of how it looks (a lot of consonants in some of the words that look more intimidating than for example having a lot of vowels) - at least that's mostly what people notice very often about it, I think.
