I still wonder what the big fascination with that is...

Like, honestly. One of the things I like about m/m is that the whole reproductive thing does not come into it.

Reproduction, or the lack thereof, has nothing to do with my liking for slash. I read and enjoy some mpreg but it's not my FAVORITE or anything. Basically, I just view it like any other AU aspect that crops up in fic. Hmm, I wonder what it'd be like if they were designers on Project Runway. Hmm, I wonder what it'd be like if they were having a baby. My brain just goes okay (sometimes) and runs with it.

Brains are very interesting, the way they're wired so differently.

This is true. And, I have nothing against MPreg - I mean, I don't need to read it, but I have no issues with it existing. I just notice the number of people who like this seems to be relatively large and I always found that curious.

I once heard someone say they believe pregnancy could "transcend gender, like love."

Really it seems like most people that write Mpreg are the types to literally make one guy the 'woman' of the relationship. Babies and all.

LOL, I've managed to write Mpreg a number of different ways now. Admittedly some of them were to explore gender politics if reproduction was decoupled from biological sex and sexual dynamics when one's sex isn't a fixed thing from birth. But then I've also written it strictly as horror as well.

There's lots of reasons to write Mpreg.
