I remember reading something about how both the director and James Dean intentionally made it as homoerotic as they could get away with at the time. I could be remembering this wrongly.

I read a bio of Dean not too long ago, and I totally think they did. (Plus the pic of Alan Ladd in his locker. Heh.) Same thing happened with Ben-Hur, as I recall; it was totally written to be super-gay, but dear Charlton Heston completely missed it. Hee. Those are my faves. And hee, well, it's fitting! In a way that Code was awful and fucked up a lot of movies--I mean, as soon as you see someone cheating you know they're gonna die and that's just annoying--but on the other hand it just makes things better because you get to read SO much into it. <3

Oh my god this documentary. <3

I love this doc to pieces, it's been too long. Heston got trolled in the best way possible. Also, am I going crazy or does the ending score have strains of 'Once I had a Secret Love'? (which probably means they discuss Calamity Jane next)
