Seconding the recs for Wicker Man and 2001.

First of all, I usually love bad movies, but I hate the Nicholas Cage remake of Wicker Man with a passion because people won't give the original a chance because the remake is so bad, either that or they think I'm talking about the remake when I say I love the original. (The soundtrack is amazing, too!)

Second of all, if you ever get a chance to see 2001 in a theatre, DO IT.

Yeah, that's the WORST kind of remake, where it's not only made the story and characters worse, but also totally overwritten the excellent original in the public's mind.
