I'm not arguing that all demisexuals are bad. I'm arguing that demisexuality by definition is slut-shaming.

Also, just as an aside... if a whole bunch of people not in your community are telling you that they find this thing shameful? Pointing out that your community doesn't find it shameful isn't going to do anybody any good.

And I'm arguing that it's not slut-shaming, so. I believe we are at an impasse.

(And I've only heard from two anonymouses that that's what they think it is, and I hardly believe that qualifies as "a whole bunch of people". More like two internet anonymouses).

1. Show me where I said demisexuals were bad people.

2. So, when somebody tells you that a thing you did was offensive, you shrug and walk off? Good to know!

3. You may not identify as demisexual, but you're whiteknighting hard for the community. My mistake assuming you identified that way.

1. I figured that it was a given from the demisexuality=slut-shaming comment from you(?), and the way a couple of anonymouses have been hammering the point that all demisexuals=slut shamers, and slut shaming is BAD (which I agree with).

2. Nope, I don't. But I honestly can't see how demisexuality = slut shaming as you claim, as I don't see non-demisexuals as sluts, and both demi and non-demi sexuality are just different but equally valid points.

The argument isn't that demisexuals are slut shamers. The argument is that the title "demisexual" is slut shaming. There is nothing wrong with only being physically attracted to people you have a strong emotional connection with. The title that is being attached to this preference (and the fact that the preference is being differentiated at all) is problematic.

You're not seeing the hints of "if you weren't a bad person, you wouldn't use a slut-shaming label"? Or was that someone else? (I mean, I respect yoru right to go anon, but this is starting to confuse me over which anon I'm talking to at what point.) (-_-);;

If it's not the fact that it exists that problematic, why is the title problematic? Because it's got the term "sexual" in it? Because it is about sexual "preferance". Why is the fact that it's differentiated problematic? People differentiate between poly/omni and bi sexual, and demisexual isn't just the same thing as normal sexual, so why not give it a label? O_o

You are falling into a trap that comes up way too often in discussions about institutional oppression, so I feel the need to point out that calling out your behavior is NOT THE SAME THING as calling you a bad person. It is impossible to discuss privilege and oppression in any meaningful fashion when or more parties presume that "your behavior is problematic" is a personal attack.

I haven't seen anyone here call demisexuals bad people. I have seen people say that the label is problematic because it is slut-shaming. Please try to understand that those are two very different things.

I'm sorry, but at one point I thought I read an anon say that demisexuals were bad people for calling themselves that name, and if they weren't bad people, they wouldn't call themself that. It's in the thread somewhere, if you'd like to look for it. Or I can. I just got which anon said it confused, sorry... ^^;;
