M'thinking not facing solid oppression makes showing the label a priority.

Obviously, I can't speak for any other bisexuals' experience, but one of the main reasons I'm as out about my sexuality as I am is that I've had way too many people who assume that I'm straight think that it's totally cool to start saying really hateful homophobic and biphobic things when they're talking to me. And I just can't deal with that horrible, punched-in-the-gut feeling I get from realizing that the person I'm talking to, this person who I thought was a friend or at least someone who respected me, actually thinks I'm sick and wrong, and they just don't realize they're talking about me. Being really upfront about my sexuality makes these encounters much less frequent and helps me stay sane.
