People see what they like in characters. Some can see the relationship, others don't. That's part of why I like fandom, the different points of view.

I've gotten spoiled by the Magic Rat's version of FFVII and the characters. But I love them. One of these days I'll get around to playing the game.

Yep, half the fun with this pairing is throwing two characters with totally opposite personalities together and somehow making it work. I don't care if other people don't ship it but I do wish some of them weren't quite so judgey about it.

Sometimes I think it came about as a bit of pair the spares but it really works for both of them. Vincent needs someone human and unafraid to make him sit down, stay here and drink his goddamn tea. Cid needs direction, movement and a combat bro.

I really like them as a pairing or as hetro life partners and they work equally well either way.

I shipped them after DoC because Cid was the only one who seemed to give a damn about Vincent as a friend. The others were all "You need to fight with us Vincent! Do this and do that! Save the woooorld!" meanwhile Cid's like "Hey Vince! You wanna go out for a drink later on?"

i've always friend-shipped them and i don't even know why, tbh.
i always got the impression cid was nicer to vincent than anyone else on the team, but upon reflection i'm fairly sure he treated vincent the same as anyone else. i'll have to replay the game one day and pay attention to their dialogue, because i'd love to know where i got that impression from. :/

That's how I feel about Aerith/Sephiroth. I never would have even thought of shipping that ungodly pairing, but thanks to EXTREMELY good writing, it's now one of my favourite FF7 pairings.
