In the anime, it was heavily implied they (either individually or their species) were creations of Nightmare? I don't think they could be directly related. But he was a father figure in a "watch Kirby put a penny in a lightsocket way so HE'LL LEARN" way.

And the interactions they did have were still pretty cute.

i don't think they're blood related, i just picture metaknight as the type to mentally adopt anyone he sees as being in his care. so fumu, bun, kirby, joe, sword, and blade are all his kids. silica, too, because garlude was his friend.
