You know what OP? This is my favorite version of Phantom of the Opera. Screw the haters. I love the sets, the costumes, the epic scale of the soundtrack, hell I even love the 300 guy as Eric.

I love it too and I love him as the phantom. Gerard Butler's way sexier in this movie than he is in anything else he's been in.

i love the movie, but his voice is terrible. (and his lisp is super annoying omg.) everyone else in the cast is really good, though.

Didn't mind the movie, but hated Gerard as the Phantom. His singing makes me cringe. I wasn't advocating that they get Crawford for the role, but for a character like the Phantom they at least could have found someone with some training.

His being too handsome bothers me too, IMO. A bad sunburn and a teeny tiny mask do not a Phantom make.

But the sets and costumes, etc. I loved. It had a great lush feel to it.

I love the Crawford version and I love this movie. I'm tired of people acting like Gerard is the worst phantom ever. My only gripe is his poor make-up and he should have sung more, I think. But I love the movie anyway. :T

This. The makeup was the only thing that bothered me because he was still freaking handsome.

I didn't even mind his voice. He clearly isn't a classically trained singer. But he has a soothing voice and his emotions came through in the songs, so that was good enough for me.

I saw it when I was 13, with my grandma, and loved it. For just the memories of watching with her, I don't think I could ever hate it. Now that I'm older I can see some of the flaws that made so many people dislike this version, but I don't care, I still love it.

While I don't personally like Gerard Butler's Phantom, it's cool if you do, OP. I will admit I don't think the movie is bad, there were some extremely pretty sets and the opening sequence is awesome. I liked Emmy Rossum well enough as Christine too. I just think Gerard Butler is way too sexy to be the Phantom, and his voice is too untrained. I mean, come on, the guy is supposed to be the Angel of Music, an absolute master. Couldn't we have gotten someone with some professional training? I wouldn't have minded that so much, though, if it weren't for the fact that his deformity looked like a bad sunburn, but obviously I don't blame Gerard Butler for that and I honestly think the man did his best.

IA, this is my favorite phantom, though that's mostly because I was able to see why Christine might have had trouble between him and Raoul, whereas the other ones, no... I didn't see it. But that's just, like, my opinion man. :)

Yes, I too liked him as the phantom. I think people just exaggerate and are encourage to exaggerate by others sometimes. I mean, yeah, the migrating sunburn was pretty stupid, but other than that, I thought he was effective.
