Oh, definitely true - I guess I wasn't counting game structure and design in technical matters. I was thinking things more like... Z-targeting. The way the camera can be realigned with just a tap of a button. Automatic jumping. Even the graphics are amazing for the era. These things were BRAND new when it was released, which is partially why it got such critical acclaim.

Of course, Zelda games are really good at being groundbreaking. SAVING A GAME was brand new with LoZ!

But yeah. Design-wise, it's just. Basically flawless.
