what even is this fandom, i see these little troll demon things in people's icons and i have no idea what they are.

Quick oversimplified summary: Armaggedon/puberty metaphor/rpg fusion.

4 kids play a reality-manipulating game that destroys the world to save the world and create a universe, eventually meeting through space/time fuckery the aliens who played the game last time to make ours. Space/time fuckery also leaves them all collectively screwed, and cooperation becomes necessary.

It's LONG. really fucking long. It's also one of the few true webcomics, in that it uses lots of flash, gifs, the occasional branching link path, and it has several soundtracks. Starts slow. Very unique brand of humor.

You can literally read for hours before you actually come to the part with the damn trolls. BUt if you do read this SKIP NOTHING. It's convoluted as shit and if you want to understand it completely you gotta slog through.

It's on a hiatus right now so now's the time to read if your gonna read.

I had to try three times before I could get into it. My take:

1. Block the fandom. Completely. I've never ever seen a fandom quite as misleading as Homestuck one. Even worse than Kingdom Hearts.
3. Start with the first recap. Then keep on going until you can't fucking stand it anymore then go to next recap. Don't even think about start from first act because it's 100000000000 pages of nothing.

OP is suggesting they put him at his place in the zodiac, i.e., between Sollux and Nepeta.

depends on the aesthetic of the lineup... ever seen one of those pretty drawings where the colors of each troll are prominent and it's in some kind of rainbow pattern? yeah, having karkat's bright red or grey in the middle of the spectrum would look HORRIBLE. i understand when its just a lineup for lineup's sake, its like ggr but aradia should be first!! but artistic license oughta be considered most of the time

Karkat's hideous mutant blood puts him even below Aradia. He would be culled in sight.

In terms of status, he's way down there, yes. But that's not his place. His place is nowhere, which is why he'd be culled.

But as a mutant, he'd likely have been culled immediatly. So as his social status goes, that's the right spot for him.

though I am with you that they should be arranged like the zodiac as the rest are and thus he should be moved forward a bit.

It's not their fault he's the best and the main character of the troll arc and thus deserves pride of place at the start of the lineup.

The zodiac has always been completely irrelevant to homestuck except for as a source of some character traits and designs. They're in order by caste. Being a person who falls outside of the order their society uses puts him at the bottom. This has been pretty well established by the fact that he has to hide it or be culled on sight.

You could always put him where the other trolls put him.

IIRC, Kanaya and possibly Feferi are off the Hemospectrum as well.

I still tend to think that the best order would be Karket -> Terezi -> Gamzee -> Tavros -> Vriska -> Kanaya -> Equius -> Aradia -> Nepeta -> Eridan -> Feferi -> Sollux but then again that's just me. *shrug*
