Mine too. I don't get the feeling the rest of the fandom dislikes it, but they definitely don't pay as much attention to it. It bums me out because it means there's way more Big Boss fic than Solid Snake fic. I love me some Big Boss and all, but I like Solid Snake more.

That's mostly because the online fandom really kicked into gear around the time 2005 rolled around, which was when MGS3 came out. Then MGS4 came around in 2008 and killed a lot of people's motivations when it came to Solid Snake.

Wow, really? I'm not even in the fandom but I remember playing that game with neighborhood friends when it came out when I was like, ten, and thinking it was the coolest/scariest thing ever. And the plot was awesome.

They're releasing the entire series in a HD Collection (with MGS1 as a downloadable title) and it's amazing how many people are excited to play MGS1 for the first time. It makes me feel old, because most of these fans either weren't born or were only babies when MGS1 was released. :(

I love MGS1 with all my heart but MGS2 is my favorite, team solid wuuu

The fandom is gorgeous, for what I have seen there is no wank, no shipwars, and all there are friendly. The best fanfics I haven read are from MGS, for what I know, plenty of the fandom have played all the games, even the ones for MSX

1 and 3 were definitely more complete and polished. 2 suffered from its rush to release, in that there are parts it's obvious that nobody working on this thing has slept for days. Nonetheless, its has its own manic genius and a special charm, and I hate how often it's dismissed. There aren't a whole lot of people who would make a game based on the themes of a postmodern detective novel, and also throw in a vampire because why not.

I think there's a pretty strong love for MGS1 out there, it's just a bit less apparent in the past couple of years what with all the BB-focused stuff recently (and MGS4 killing all the MGS1ers will to live). I feel like there's an awful lot of MGS1 fic, or at least a lot of stuff that is clearly 1 or between 1 and 2.
