Oh, okay, that makes sense. Sorry, I thought you were confused as to how anyone could invest that much in their friends liking the same things they do, and I wanted to clarify that. It looks like we're actually on the same page, though. :)

It does kind of sound like OP hasn't come out and told their friends they don't like HIMYM yet, which is too bad. OP, if you're reading this, definitely do tell them, and maybe suggest something else you guys could do together instead of watching HIMYM? If there's another option presented, it should be clear to your friends that you're really interested in spending time with them, just not interested in the show. And you might find something new and fun to do together.
