(Anonymous) 2011-09-25 12:39 am (UTC)(link)From what I understand, the OTW believes you should not be obliged to drop it like a hot potato and supposedly they believe the issue could be fought in court and have some kind of legal defense prepared. (Not all that sure what that entails, but it's in their "What We Believe" which is linked below.)
I think it could not be fought in court (for most fanfic, anyway, some parodies have been successfully fought in court) and the idea is a waste of time. FWIW I don't think anyone is out there writing Anne Rice fic on the grounds that the OTW is going to defend it.
Wow, I'm sounding like I really have some agenda against them and I don't really. I just don't think the organization is all that great.
