I understand what you're saying. I tried watching it to see what all the hype was about and realized I didn't like it the first time I saw it. Back when it was called Friends.

Also, if networks are going to rehash the same-old, same-old 20/30-something-pals scenario, can't they at least set it somewhere other than New York? There are other cities in the US. Lots of them. I promise. I'm past hoping for a NEW idea on TV, so at least set your old, tired idea somewhere new.

I don't mind seeing more New York City (more Boston would be even better), but god, yes, do something different. Make it, idk, about a conductor on the transportation system, or a bunch of students at Columbia who cause a wormhole in the fabric of space/time or god, ANYTHING. ANYTHING. I'd be happy with a whole show which ripped off the premise of Run Lola Run with a different character every week.

I also hated the blandness of Friends and this clone I like even less. (My sister loves both. idgi)

They did. You might have heard of it. A group of friends work at a university as scientists (one engineer). They talk about geeky things and get into crazy situations. They also don't live in New York, but in L.A.

L.A. is not a good alternative to New York. In fact, that's a step down from New York. Everything is set in L.A.

Is this Big Bang Theory you're talking about here? Because, uh, I couldn't get into that either. I did appreciate that at least it wasn't as bland as Friends, and was TRYING to cater to a different sort of audience than usual.

Yeah, I wasn't catering to your tastes, just pointing out that there are other shows that aren't set in New York who have tried to take the formula of sitcom-pals (because why get rid of something that works?) and change it up.

Yeah, but, sine most of it is set in Leonard and Sheldon's apt., or Penny's apt., or where they work, i honestly didn't have a *clue* what city it was set in. There are no 'stereotypical L.A.' things going on, you know?
