I remember that after a friend recommended ASoIaF to me years ago I picked it up randomly at a bookstore and opened the book on that very scene. I was like "...okay" and it took me some time to decide to give it a try XD it's not even the squick factor as much as the "man, you're kind of overdoing it you know" one.

Well yeah, but the menstrual blood is still the part that is ALWAYS brought up when people discuss the scene and Dead!Joffrey often comes as an afterthought, which is... interesting, I guess?
