This. And I also hate when ficcers write love scenes with the unscarred character "tracing the scar's path" with any part of their body. PARTICULARLY if the scar is a result of something deeply personal and/or traumatic.

Most of the stories I've read where that detail appears involves characters who are fighters/warriors, for whom bodily and facial scars would be expected, perhaps been prided upon. So it is justified sometimes.

I feel like the point of this is to emphasize the trust/intimacy of the characters, although I can understand why it could be annoying because yeah, if something like that is personal and uncomfortable the last thing you want is someone touching all over it while you're trying to bone.
