Not sure I agree. Doctoral student in psychology with a focus on sexual assault victims, and I've been focusing on male victims. It's disheartening.

Basically, with women who are raped it's completely stripping them of power, that's the usual reason rapes happen, for the attacker to prove their dominance. It's horrifying, and traumatizing for them.

There is another level with male victims, at least American men. Rape is not only stripping them of power, but also their identity. American culture dictates that men are supposed to be strong and in control. Therefore there's a stigma that a man who has been raped is no longer a man (which is just as ludicrous as the one saying a woman who gets raped obviously "wanted it" she would have been able to fight off her attacker). When it's a female doing the assaulting and the act leads to ejaculation it's often worse, because many men feel afterward that they couldn't even control their own bodies, so how could they possible control their lives. Usually what Tim faces is things that might torture or kill him, kill people he loves, or destroy the world. All terrible, but on a very different emotional level (not taking into account types of torture specifically meant to dehumanize the victim, which often includes rape. As far as I know, Tim has not been personally exposed to those)

Not saying EVERY man takes it that way, and maybe Tim wouldn't, but there's a reason why male victims of rape, be it male-on-male or female-on-male, don't speak up.

Sorry, I didn't mean to dismiss all the ways that it is traumatic, and especially the ways it's traumatic for men. My thoughts on this scene are just more that it didn't really get farther than Tim tied up and the girl disrobing, so it seems like he wouldn't necessarily deal with the reality of that. (Unlike, for instance, Dick when he was raped by Tarantula, which I think did get into all the things you're bringing up here.) Tim seems to have every reason to still be confident he would have kept control and avoided the attack.

Of course, I also think this whole storyline and scene was being written as a male fantasy and not as a realistic rape. Which isn't a good thing.
