It actually does. They're called English Literature Professors.

Mine made me write in-depth character analysis, write fanfiction of 'missing' chapters from Huckleberry Finn and character POVs, and once, roleplay Lord of the Flies in the woods outside the school. I remember turning in fanart of Lord of the Rings and Chaucer's Tales for a few assignments. I'm sure there's a lot more I'm forgetting, but believe me, that fandom is alive and kicking.
