I...don't really like them together at all. They can have a very good intellectual conversation, but outside those, they have a very awkward chemistry that just doesn't lend itself to shipping them at all. They're like...tentative friends to me, nothing more.

Amy had more chemistry in a possible shippy way with Leonard in the 3rd episode of the new season and she has TONS AND TONS of chemistry with Penny that they could dabble more with. I'd LOVE if she ended up having a crush and a possible thing with Penny, or just a one-sided thing.

But shippy with Sheldon? I can't see it. Even if I do ship the biggest ship in the fandom right now (no shame at all in shipping Sheldon/Penny, i love them to death), I honestly don't see it and I'd rather see her with Penny more than anyone. Just not Sheldon.

It also saddens me that the writers gave us an asexual character (which is awesome, especially since the other characters are obsessed with sex) only to give him a pseudo-girlfriend in season 4. I will be so disappointed if they end up becoming 100% canon. Sheldon is okay the way he is. He never needed/wanted a girlfriend, so why give him one? :(

Yes, but asexuals can also be aromantic. And Sheldon always seemed aromantic to me. As I've said, he never cared about romantic relationships. He never wanted a girlfriend.
It's annoying that the writers MUST pair every character in the show. Why? What's the point? Why can't Sheldon be single, like he always wanted to be? He doesn't want to have a girlfriend, so why give him one? Because EVERYONE must have a mate? Because single people can't be happy? Is that really the message the writers want to deliver?
Besides, Sheldon and Amy have like no chemistry at all, IMO. Hell, Amy had far more chemistry with Leonard in episode 5x03 than what she's had with Sheldon during the entirety of Season 4.

Sorry if I seem bitchy or anything. This particular topic hits a bit too close to home...

Me too. I think Sheldon and Amy's relationship is the perfect example of a nonsexual love story. I really enjoy them together, and don't care if they never have sex. If anything, it makes their relationship all the more interesting.
