Eh, it's easy to see why people would like it and why people would hate it; it all depends on one's opinion of Gamzee and Humanstuck AUs and yaoi shipping.

I read it to see what the fuss was about (as I often do with big AUs in my fandoms), but I've never been a Gamzee fan, PB&J does not interest me, and Gamzee/Karkat is a definite no thanks. The art's certainly better than many Homestuck AUs, though.

except it does if you're not interested in kawaii yaoishit with Gamzee's head pastede on yey, oops. (and I say this as a slash fan -- the problem is what plot we've seen in 4chords is just generic yaoi manga plot that would probably be more solid as origific but then wouldn't be as popular.)

inb4 THAT'S NOT ALL THERE IS TO IT -- yeah, she's doodled other characters for the 'verse, but she hasn't done anything interesting for them.

Just because it sucks to you doesn't mean that the story itself sucks. There are plenty of people who do like that 'kawaii yaoishit'.

It never ceases to amaze me how there are always people who seem to think that just because they don't like something, that something is an abomination and should be treated as such. Because clearly you're the definitive voice on everything.

You're welcome to not like it. You're not welcome to tell everyone else they can't like it or suck for liking it. There are plenty of things I don't like, that I think suck. I don't go posting secrets about them, I don't go flaming fans over it, and I don't troll the artist over it - whether you or the OP have done it personally or not, it does happen. I move the fuck on and enjoy the things I like.

I kind of wish 4Chords would not be treated as such a big deal either way, really. It's not anything really incredibly special from what I've seen, just another AU. It's not phenomenal and groundbreaking, nor is it atrocious. It's just. Average.

So why on Earth is there so much wank about it??

It became extremely popular on tumblr(idk how, like you said it's average. It may have been cuz the artist was popular), and it's the popularity that caused it to have such an equal amount of wank. It's like a universal law that undeserved love and hate will always balance each other out.

Homestuck alternate universe fancomic which can be found on tumblr. I read a bit of it once, and as far as I can tell it revolves around Gamzee living with Karkat, the two of them having a romantic/sexual but not entirely resolved kind of relationship and also Tavros has a crush on Gamzee.
