I don't think it would happen simply because the Batman mythos having two sociopathic former Robins would probably have been shot down at the upper levels.

That said, I don't think your wrong. Tim was unhinging rapidly, and he's smart enough to figure out ways be extremely dangerous.

I agree that DC would never have green-lighted a full on Villain Tim, though he was drifting into the territory of darker heroes, I could see him having degenerated to the point where he was dancing on the hero/anti-hero line. What I truly think his destiny could have been: The first Robin to commit suicide. It'd have been a shame because I love Tim. But DC seemed eager to demonstrate the he was coming unglued and the Fate's were ripping away everything he cared about.

I thought the way Yost was writing him made him a bit more respectable-- like he was growing into his own as an independent detective and hero. Then Nicieza took the series in a totally different direction and turned him into such a douchebag.

Inconsistent writing made him look like a total twat. He seems to have different personalities with each book-- and Nicieza's run just made him look like a total douchebag by the idiotic decisions he made and how he treated people.

I still saw it as Tim himself being unable to deal with stuff. But there is a more than good chance my brain is trying to rationalize these things. It's come up with some pretty big stretches for use as explanations for nonsensical DCnU stuff.

I totally understand what you mean. I find I have to rationalize a lot for DC to make sense sometimes. x__x

Had Nicieza written the Red Robin book from the start, I could see it just being about him being unable to deal with stuff-- but with the first arc, it showed him coming to terms with a lot that the second half just seemed to ignore character-wise.

Really? I mean, he was going pretty mental for awhile there but remember how in Red Robin it was shown he was without sin? ACTUALLY LITERALLY WITHOUT SIN OH MAN NICIEZA WHAT WERE YOU THINKING THAT'S AWFUL WRITING

Anyway, I don't see him going from that to villian, unless all his friends died again or something.

Silly that he's without sin. The boy has done some pretty crazy things. I mean, certainly playing dead counts as an untruth, right? He's done that twice. Once was to save his own life vs Jason, but the ruse with Cassandra was an outright deception for his own gain. And I seem to recall cloning on the list of sins according to many religions... :p

As for his sanity/path to villainy, I don't think he was getting better. Perhaps not getting worse anymore, but definitely not better. Despite getting Kon and Bruce back. Therefore, I could easily see him going further down the path to insanity with each bad thing that happened. And he's a comic character, so bad things ARE going to happen to him. As someone else said above, I as well could see him becoming a villain in theory, but not something that DC would allow in practice.
