You're right. I totally have. I have also shipped things that are young-lady-ish in other fandoms. It's shocking I know but those characters were not Kotetsu and Karina. It's not an either-or thing, where if you don't like an aspect of one pairing you're not allowed to like that in any other pairing, ever, or you're a hypocrite. Different characters do have different dynamics and different chemistry.
TBH I'm kind of baffled by how hard some people (in thankfully few but vocal numbers) have been pushing to attach a het-hostile or female-hostile reason to the lack of enthusiasm for a pairing that has both a huge age gap and the staff of the show saying that Karina's crush was meant to be seen as a not-gonna-happen thing. There might be a leg to stand on for the "OMG FUJOSHI CAN'T TAKE ICKY VAGINA AND THAT'S WHY THEY DON'T SHIP IT" argument here if the writers had intended for people to find the pairing appealing and want it to happen, but considering they've repeatedly emphasized the complete opposite, I'm guessing this whole thing is at least partially attributable to the talented staff.
